Have you moved to Australia due to your partner’s work or for other unforeseen circumstances, and have left behind a life which you were quite happy with? Or have you put your life on hold while raising a family, and have now reached the stage where you want to find your own path here in this new country? In either case, you may be feeling lost and unsure of what you new course in life could be.
When viewed as an opportunity, this change in your life can be looked at as a chance to discover what you really want to do and to look honestly at what you would like from life. Think of all the things you have wanted to do but never had time for. Do you want to study, volunteer, learn or teach a skill, start your own business, have more quality time with your children, or work for a major company here in Australia? There are many options, and now is your opportunity to choose!
I understand that relocating to a new country, town, or home can be stressful and at times overwhelming. Migrants are facing many changes at once, and for some, this includes dealing with the English language and a Western way of life. For the majority of us, this change is a frightening prospect. It creates the feeling of helplessness and a lack of control. Each person’s experience of relocating will be unique. It is normal for you to feel the way you do, and there is nothing wrong with you. You may find it difficult to settle or to relax in any way with your new situation. It is here that I can help.
Success Coaching for Asian Migrants
Indeed, it is interesting to note that, at times, I have also heard people say, “I’m doing OK as I am…So Why Do I need ‘Life Coaching’?”
The answer is that no one is capable of perfectly analysing their own thoughts, emotions and desires. As your Migrant Life Coach, I help you clarify and order your thoughts and feelings as you settle and get adjusted to living and working in a foreign country, without inserting my own opinions or “giving you advice”.
It is my firm belief that every individual has different preferences, motivators, approaches, needs, inspirations and goals which are weaved tightly by their personal cultural beliefs and backgrounds.
My flexible and uniquely tailored approach takes your cultural backgrounds and beliefs into account and ensures that coaching solutions are aligned with your deepest values and motivations, thus ensuring sustainable results.
As your life coach, I will ensure that you will learn stress relieving techniques, investigate your fears and anxiety and look for the potential to develop and expand in your new situation. I will also include English coaching, especially for those who come from an Asian dialect speaking background. Over the past 17 years, I have worked with people from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, China, Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam and India, and these experiences contribute immensely to my knowledge of cultural adjustment for new migrants to Australia.
I will help you:
- Convert your desires (“dreams”) into crystal-clear statements of purpose (goals)
- Identify the internal and external barriers that are holding you back from achieving your goals.
- Organize and focus your thoughts, emotions and actions toward overcoming your barriers to success.
- Adjust to a new way of life and manage cultural differences without feeling compromised or isolated.
- Assist with various other issues that may arise, including accommodation, transportation, application for employment and other administrative obligations.
- Refine the process as we work together over a number of sessions.
English Coaching

Your sessions with me as your coach may include coaching in English in the areas of reading, writing and speaking. If you wish to include this as part of your coaching, this can be added to our sessions as well. This will ensure a comprehensive and holistic approach to building your confidence and self-esteem as a migrant in a foreign country, especially if the English language is a challenge for you.
My experience as an educator spans several years, which includes:
- English as a First Language, Geography and Literature teacher in St Andrew’s Secondary School (Singapore) between 1997 to 1999;
- Creative Thinking, Creative Writing and Phonetics in several primary schools in Singapore (through Kingsfield Education Centre) between 1997 to 1999;
- Private tuition on English and Literature to Upper Secondary students in Singapore between 1997 to 1999;

- Trainer / public speaker in delivering public health training for the WA Department of Health to the WA Department of Corrective Services, WA Police Service and other non-profit organisations and community groups between 2003 to 2009.
Combining these teaching experiences with my written/communication skills and NLP training, I am able to competently coach you in English as well. English coaching include:
- casual conversation and pronunciation, grammar, idioms, phrasal verbs, euphemisms and other spoken and written English problems;
- understanding of Australian idioms, slang, phrasal verbs;
- improvement of your IELTS score;

Remember: You find a few sessions of life coaching can be the same or even cheaper than a week away in Bali, and last a life time! Many people get away on a short (or long) trip for a quick fix, only to return with, and to the same problems!
